           Staking Your Selection

Knowing how much to place on your selection is equally important to what you actually punt on.

Selecting the winner is only half the battle, and even then, if the odds aren't in your favour then you are no sure thing to go home with more money in your kick than when you first arrived at the track.

Personally, I favour betting Win Only.  The TAB and Bookies will often have place betting at 1/4 of the Win only price.  This means that if you bet each way, then you are taking 25% of the odds (at best) if you run 2nd or 3rd.

Unfortunately, there is 3 places yet you are getting 1/4 the odds.  The odds aren't really in your favour when you bet each way.  This is why we prefer Win Only betting or Stand Out Multiples such as placing your Selection First, then have the Field or Multiple 2nd and 3rd selections pinned with the 'system horse' in all 3 places as a 'saver' bet.

Nevertheless, when following a mechanised form of betting, such as the 1930's Punting System, you really need to keep in mind that we're not discriminating from any selection whether it's 4/6 or 50/1.

You may wish to review other staking plans and utilise software that tracks your betting systems methodically.  One sample that we found online is available below:-
